ipsy Glam Bag Review: October's Eye Candy!

Well hello there!

First off I'd like to say that this is my 100th post! I never thought that I would spend this much time on a hobby, let alone gain over 250 followers on bloglovin'! So thank you for following me and reading my blog, and also for keeping my interest in posting!

I'll apologize for the crappy pictures now... this post has been sitting in my drafts for about 9 days because I haven't felt like posting due to the pictures. Frankly, I don't have much else to talk about which is why I've decided to post it with the bad pictures anyway... hopefully they aren't too bad!

Now, I've always mentioned that I'm going to do an ipsy bag review since I have started to subscribe to the monthly service. I obviously haven't, but there's a reason, I swear! Every (the 2) glam bag I've received, I've fallen in love with every product. If I was reviewing one product, being in love with it wouldn't be so bad, but there's been 5 products each time. This makes for a very boring rant to read. But this month is a lot different. I've only been getting makeup products, which is nice, but we all know that the reviews lie in hygienic products (like face wash and hand cream). This month was full of those kinds of things, and I surprisingly didn't love everything in the bag! Enough chitter chatter, time to get on with the review!

The products came in this beautiful quilted teal bag! Definitely my favourite of the ones I have!

The first product I received are these Glacial Cleansing Cloths by Skyn Iceland, I thought I would love these because you don't need water, but I honestly very strongly dislike them.

The reason I don't like them is because in order to get the cloth foamy, you literally have to scrub it together to get a very minimal amount of foam. The foam disappears very quickly and I felt like the cloth did nothing for me. It's a great idea, but the formula could be worked on more.

The next product I received is this Nourish Organic Moisturizing Face Cleanser. To be completely honest, I only read "moisturizing" and began to apply this like a moisturizer. I was extremely confused as to why a moisturizer would sink right into my skin until I reread the package. So I felt like an idiot. But, as for the product itself, I don't mind it.

The smell is a little displeasing to me but that's the last thing I'd be worried about. Unfortunately there's no ingredient list so I don't know exactly what is in it other than it's organic, has watercress and cucumber, and is not tested on animals (which most of these products aren't).

I didn't find this to be extremely moisturizing because it left my skin feeling very plastic-y, but it didn't dry it out either. I'm not sure if I would repurchase this product as I'd have to test it out longer. I do like that it is all natural though!

This next product is my absolute favourite because the packaging is just so beautiful. It's Mango Mandarin Hand Cream by Figs & Rouge. Yet again, this product is all natural (as the majority of these are) and the lotion part of it is great!

However, I very strongly dislike the smell. I don't like mangoes or mandarins very much, which is probably why I don't like it. I can tell you that I will be looking on their website for their other scents because I cannot get over how stunning this packaging is!

I'm not a big lipstick fan but I was really excited to try out this next product because it's a matte one! I got the colour Cappucino in this City Color Be Matte Matte Lipstick. I like that this lipstick isn't pointed as those scare me a bit.

I think the colour of it is absolutely beautiful and is a great natural colour to get into wearing lipstick. The difference between my natural lip colour and this shade was very subtle.

But I didn't like that the lipstick was matte. As I've never tried a matte lipstick before I didn't know how I'd like it. I typically like things with a bit of shimmer just to add a bit of oomph which is the reason I didn't like this colour mattified. The formula was great and the colour stunning, but maybe I'll look on their website for a normal lipstick!

And to round it all off is a Shimmer Powder by Mica Beauty Cosmetics. I received the shade Reluctance which is a very glittery army green colour.

I like to wear browns and beiges because they suit my eye colour best, but this shade isn't too overwhelmingly green. I've never had this kind of shadow where it's a loose pigment style, but it's always good to switch things up!

One thing I don't like about the loose powder part of it is that it's going to get everywhere if I keep it in my purse. Whenever I open it, I will have glitter on my hands for hours!

Which brings me to my next point of how glittery this shadow is. This is not a daytime colour because your eyes would look like they're glowing right out of your head. I can say though that the glitter is very easy to come off with makeup remover.

Overall this month I wasn't too pleased or too disappointed with the products. It wasn't a great bag that I'll rave about for a week and it wasn't so bad that I'd cancel my subscription. That's the really good thing about ipsy because they choose lesser known brands to expand your makeup horizons. I've fallen so in love with some of the brands they sent me that I refuse to use another brand, and some brands I dislike altogether. It's a cheap and materialistic way to gamble!

Not everyone gets the same products as you take a style quiz to determine your personal results. If you want to subscribe to receive next month's glam bag, click here!

If you're a subscriber too, what did you think of the products in your bag?
