Friday Food Mood!

Well hello there!

Today's post is a little bit different than anything I've done previously, so this is an adventure for both you and I! I was contacted by TheBesty and asked to write an article about restaurants, either locally or globally, that I would recommend. Of course I took up the offer, (obviously...) because it's something I've never written about before and because living near Niagara Falls makes it quite easy choosing of local restaurants!

TheBesty is essentially a foodie and traveler's dream! If you're looking for new places to try around your city, or even for the best restaurants in the area you're travelling to, this is the only website you'll need. You're able to create a wishlist of all the places you want to try, recommend places to your friends and family, and even read about other blogger's recommendations as TheBesty works with a bunch of blogger's all over the world to provide you with the best information!

Now that you have a little insight to why this post is happening and also about TheBesty, I think it's about time that we get into my 5 choice restaurants in the Niagara Region!

Choice #1: The Keg Steakhouse + Bar in St. Catharines, Ontario

There are 3 locations here in the region, with 2 being close to Niagara Falls, but I decided to go with the one that is not in Niagara Falls for specific reasons. The Keg is a place for a fine dining experience, and with all of the tourists crowding the restaurant it's nice to go somewhere away from them (as a local, but probably as a tourist too). Also, in knowing quite a few people that work at this location, I know that the service is fantastic. The food will always be made to what you order, and if it's not they would be happy to make it so. The server's are extremely friendly and provide you with an extraordinary experience, it will keep you coming back for more! Make sure to call ahead if you have a big party attending, or even if you want special VIP service!

Choice #2: Central Pizzeria in Fort Erie, Ontario

This restaurant is my absolute favourite place to enjoy some homemade pasta! I've been devouring their Cheese Ravioli (sauce on the side) for about 10 years now, and I refuse to go anywhere else! It's a quaint little place in my hometown that ensures you're getting the best from-scratch pasta pasta-ble (yes I had to make the pun it was too easy)! They make all of your favourite comfort food from pizza and wings to subs and soup! If you happen to venture out here (it's about 15 minutes from Niagara Falls) and eat at Central Pizzeria, tell them Kaye's grand-daughter sent you!

Choice #3: The Old Bank Bistro and Piano Bar in Fort Erie, Ontario

Considering that we're a small little town, this is as close to fine dining as you'll get here! With that being said, it's amazing food and a great atmosphere. It's one of those restaurants where they have a generic menu (read: everything you could really want all in one spot) but they put their own twist on each item. My favourite from this restaurant is the Chicken Slouvaki in a Pita. The portions are huuuge and it's a great deal for your money!

Choice #4: Canyon Creek in Niagara Falls, Ontario

Location location location! This place sits you down right in the Fallsview Casino, (well not right in the casino, down the hall from it...) and gives you one of the most beautiful views of Niagara Falls you can get! The appetizers at this place are to die for, and the service is amazing! If you want to ensure that you get a great table, call ahead to make a reservation, as this place is always busy!

Choice #5: Italian Ice Cream in Niagara Falls, Ontario

Once you've eaten all of your dinner, and you've walked around for a bit, you start to realize that you're craving something... and Italian Ice Cream has just what you're looking for! Not a far walk from Niagara Falls you get the best gelato you could ever dream of here in Canada. My recommendation is a scoop of Raspberry and Coconut, or Coffee and Hazelnut! The beauty of this place is that it's not just ice cream, they also serve sandwiches and coffee too! Pop in for lunch and go back for dessert!

With my choices I wanted to be able to appeal to everyone's likes, as I know I'm not always in the mood for one specific kind of food. Some of the prices for these places are a bit expensive but always check the websites or call ahead to see if they have any special deals going on for when you want to go! Overall, for my first food blog post, I think I did a pretty good job! What do you think?

What are some of your favourite restaurants in the your area?
