Benefit Porefessional & Boi ing Review!

Well hello there!

I did a very bad thing. I splurged money that I shouldn't have in Sephora. In my defense, I worked really hard this holiday season and honestly earned it. And there was a double the points on skincare at Sephora and I've been meaning to get a good skincare line for a while. But not in my defense, I splurged the money on some products that turned out to be horrible!

I've always heard everyone just gushing about Benefit's Porefessional, and when I was at the checkout line I decided to pick the mini version up after eyeing the full sized. Essentially this product is meant to make your pores (those "holes" on your face that your foundation doesn't quite glide over) less prominent. I've used one before and I liked it but then kinda stopped using it, but I figured I was already spending money so why not pop in a $12 mini tube of it? I should have just spent it on food...

I did as the little pamphlet inside said to, and applied before my foundation. Since my only noticeable pores are on my nose and a little on my cheeks, I applied a tiny dab of it in those spots. Normally I'm someone who notices a massive difference in the first use of everything because I hype it up in my brain, but I noticed nothing. Not a single difference. My pores were still very very noticeable and all I could think was "Oh boy, another purchase I'll have to toss." As a last hope, I put it on after my foundation the day after and noticed a very minuscule difference. I think that because I use BB Cream (which is pretty shiny) and Porefessional is meant to not be shiny, it just matte-ified my nose. Needless to say, I will not be using this, buying this, or recommending this product... ever.

Unfortunately, that's not the only Benefit product I spent money on that I truly regret. I've always worn concealer and I've always been interested in trying out new ones. Recently I discovered that concealers come in different coverage levels just as foundation, and the one that I need is full coverage. I've wanted to try the bareminerals concealer for a really long time but before I could head over to that section, I stumbled upon Benefit's Boi ing. It claimed to be an industrial coverage concealer so I immediately grabbed it up.

My first problem is that they didn't have my shade, so I had to grab a darker one but I thought, I can blend this out easily and considering it's the first thing to go on my face it'll be covered quickly. To all the makeup guru's laughing at me, where were you when I needed you? Yes, I was very wrong. Had it just been me not getting the right shade, I could deal with it, but that was not the case at all. This "industrial" coverage was even lighter than my medium coverage concealer. It was impossible to build up, and it just didn't apply well at all. I did just as the little pamphlet said and applied with my fingers and then blended out. but this stuff covered absolutely nothing. Unless my definition of industrial is wrong, save your $26 and go out for dinner.

To be completely honest, this is my first time really trying anything from Benefit, and it most likely will be my last when it comes to their face products. I was really looking forward to rave about all of my purchases, but I couldn't believe how upsetting these 2 items were. Luckily my splurges of the day have been doing well and will more than likely be receiving fabulous reviews (cue the girl with her hand out to the side emoji)!

How do you like Benefit's face makeup products? Do you think they're worth the money?

Make sure to follow me on social media to find out when I spend a bunch of money when I shouldn't be:

  1. I agree, I don't really like the porefessionals. It makes my BB cream really easy to apply but gave me spots and made my skin greasy :( great review :) I recently did one on my daily make up over on my blog :)

    1. I don't fully understand the hype behind it, so I'm glad I'm not the only one! Thank you, I'm glad you liked my review! I'll make sure to check your blog out!

  2. Too bad you don't like the products :( I kind of have a love-hate relationship with Benefit products. I bought the porefessional primer recently, and I'm still trying to figure out if it works for me or not. Some of their products work for some skin types, but not for others.
In the past I used the Fake Up! concealer. I'm not to sure about it, it kind of creases and meanwhile, I found better products to cover up my dark circles.
What I do love about Benefit are their box-o-powder blushes. I use them all the time. I hear good things about the gimme-brow tinted brow gel as well. I don't know. It's trial and error with benefit, too bad the errors cost you a lot :(

    1. Thankfully Sephora allows returns/exchanges on used makeup so I'm not out the money, but if they didn't it would have been really bad! I hear good things about Benefit all of the time, but maybe you're right and it doesn't work with my skin type. Thank you for the heads up on the blushes, as that's my next venture in makeup! Hopefully the Gimme Brow Tinted Brow Gel works for you if you decide to try it. Make sure to let me know if it does!
