Life With Pink Hair

Well hello there!

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, which you should be doing anyway, you know that for a little bit I had pink hair. It's quite difficult to explain the shade of pink I had, but I would describe it as a natural pink. Yes, obviously pink hair isn't natural but it wasn't obnoxiously bright and it wasn't pastel either. The reason for that is I didn't go platinum for the bright and you can't go pastel without bleaching and adding a "pastelerizer" to the dye. When I did the pink, I had just a highlighted golden blonde head of hair, and I also kept it on for a while.

Obviously my first shot at it wasn't all that great because I didn't know what I was doing. I used Sparks long lasting bright hair color in "pink kiss" that I bought at Hot Topic, and I was really pleased with it. With this particular dye you just paint it on your hair and then let it sit; the company suggests 20 minutes, which is what I did for my first try. 20 minutes tinged my hair a tiny bit pink and made the blonder parts of my highlights a little pinker.

After about an hour with my new hair colour, I knew I needed to go pinker which was fine because I had bought 3 tubes of it. The next night I applied more dye and left it for about 40 minutes this time.

This obviously left my hair pink enough and I really loved it. For washing my hair I tried to wash it only 2-3 times a week, and when I did I used cold water and colour keeping shampoo. This helped to maintain the dye for a bit. Normally I would do it once every week and a half, because pink is never pink enough. Depending on how much my hair had faded I typically left the dye on for an hour or sometimes longer. I knew that since my hair wasn't bleached it wouldn't be extremely bright which is why I left it for so long.

And then came time to fade it out. My roots had grown so much that it wasn't acceptable anymore, and I knew I needed to get them done properly.

My hairdresser was quite upset when I went in because I didn't tell her I had done it. She did whatever she did to my hair to make it blonde again, but the ends are still a tad pink in some spots. I might do the pink again because it was fun and I really loved it (obviously by the amount of selfies taken). The original reason I wanted to touch up my roots was because I wanted to go purple (I even bought the dye) but I chickened out and I'm currently still blonde!

But if you want to see what my next hairventure is, be sure to follow both my Twitter and Instagram because I post on there daily!

What's one insane hair colour that you would love to do?
